This Privacy Policy applies to the Jambo Films website (jambofilms.com) and the Jambo Films Android app available on Google Play (together, the "Service"). Jambo Films ("we", "our", "us") operates the Service. It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can control it.
1. Information we collect
Account information you give us
- Name and username
- Email address
- Phone number
- Password (stored hashed; we never see it)
- If you sign in with Google: your Google account name, email and profile picture
- A profile picture, if you choose to upload one
Subscription and payment information
- Subscription plan and payment history
- Subscription payments are processed by Pesapal on a secure checkout page that opens inside the app or website. You enter your card or mobile money details on that page. We receive a confirmation and a transaction reference and do not store your card number.
Referral rewards
- If you join the referral programme, we keep your referral code, the users you referred, your reward balance and your withdrawal history.
- When you request a withdrawal, we collect the mobile money number and account name you want to be paid to, so we can send the payout.
Usage and device information collected automatically
- Viewing activity: titles watched, watch progress and watchlist
- Searches you make, which we use to return results and do not keep
- Ratings, reviews and comments you choose to post, which other users can see
- Device type, operating system version, app version, language
- IP address and approximate (country or city level) location derived from it
- Crash reports and performance diagnostics, collected through Sentry with personal data collection switched off
Push notification token
- If you allow notifications, we store a device token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you alerts about new releases and your account.
Cookies and similar technologies
- On the website we use cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences and measure usage.
- We use Google Analytics (GA4) with IP anonymisation to understand how the Service is used. Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We do not collect precise location, contacts, microphone or camera data, and we only access your photos when you pick a profile picture.
2. How we use your information
- Provide the Service: play content, keep your watch progress and watchlist, run your subscription and referral rewards
- Pay content partners based on how much their titles are watched
- Process payments and send receipts
- Send service messages (account, billing, security) and, with your consent, promotional messages you can opt out of at any time
- Personalise recommendations
- Measure and improve the Service, fix bugs
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Pesapal, our payment provider, to process subscriptions and referral payouts
- Sentry, to receive crash reports and diagnostics
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and serve the Service
- Google (Google Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Sign-In) as described above
- Email and SMS delivery providers to send messages we are required or allowed to send
- Law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public
- A successor business if Jambo Films is involved in a merger, acquisition or restructuring, in which case this policy continues to apply
4. Data security
We protect your data with HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, optional two-factor authentication, access controls and regular backups. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active
- Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires
- Analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics settings, then deleted or aggregated
- After you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below. We respond within 30 days.
- Notifications: turn off in the app or your device settings
- Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email
- Cookies: control through your browser settings
Deleting parts of your data without closing your account
You can remove these yourself at any time in the app or on the website:
- Your profile picture
- Titles in your watchlists and in Continue Watching
- Reviews and comments you have posted
To delete anything else, such as your viewing history or a phone number, email us from your account email and say what you want removed. We delete it within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your Jambo Films account and the data linked to it:
- In the app or website: Profile → Security → Delete account
- By request: visit https://jambofilms.com/delete-account or email us from your account email with the subject "Delete my account"
When you delete your account we remove your profile, profile picture, viewing history, watchlists, reviews, comments, referral details and notification tokens. We keep payment records required by law and any data needed to resolve disputes or prevent fraud, for no longer than the law requires.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Third-party links and content
The Service may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Content rights holders can contact us through our DMCA page: https://jambofilms.com/dmca
10. International transfers
Our servers and some providers may be located outside your country. By using the Service you agree that your data may be processed there, protected by the safeguards described in this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
